Do worms grow their bodies back?

Me and my friends at lunch had an argument about if a worm can get cut in half and grow back it's body. And If the same could be done with a snake. I said that the worm can grow back it's body cuz when I go nightcrawling my dad says if u breK them throw hen back cuz theyll die and send of chemicz or something that will kill the other worms. So who's right me or my friends. This is serious so don guess
